Hotel Arts Pool
The pool at the Hotel Arts is one of Calgary's best kept secrets! I first found out that you didn't have to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy the pool, from following @lifeincalgary on Instagram. There was nothing but sun in the forecast for Calgary this past Sunday, so I thought that lounging poolside while catching up with a girlfriend would make for the perfect me time activity. I called the Hotel Arts several days prior to get some more information. I was told that the poolside patio opens to non-hotel guests at 11:00am and there is a usage fee of $5. It is also occasionally closed for private events, so I would recommend calling ahead to make sure it's open on your preferred date. My friend and I arrived at 11:30am and unfortunately, all the tables were either taken or reserved. We put our name on a waiting list, but being the 13th name, it was unlikely that we would get a table. Luckily, an acquaintance of my friend noticed that we were unable to find a seat, and invited us to her cabana. She came with her friends for poolside yoga earlier that morning, so they were able to score the best table immediately afterwards! The class runs from 9-10am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and accommodates all levels. If you're not a guest of the hotel, you can book the class on the HotShop website. We obviously needed a drink to quench our thirst, so we were quick to check out the poolside menu! There were plenty of drinks to choose from with fun names like Bey & Jay's Lemonade and Hips Don't Lie. There's also a food menu with appetizers, salads, mains, and desserts. My friend and I each ordered a Pineapple Mojito, and for food, I ordered the fries, my friend ordered the chicken satay, and we split the quinoa salad. Everything was SO good! After we finished eating, we sat by the pool to dip our toes in. There were plenty of people standing in the pool, but we didn't actually see anyone swimming. It reminded me of a Vegas pool party where it was more of a see and be seen kind of situation! It was the perfect place to relax kid-free for a few hours. I may not be able to jet off to Vegas, but I can take the CTrain to the Hotel Arts pool!
