Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I love to share life hacks and reviews, while raising my boys in Canada's 'New West', Calgary, Alberta.

Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo

Since having my second child, I definitely have a lot less time to get ready in the morning. Washing my hair daily has become a thing of the past, but no one needs to know that! That's where dry shampoo comes in. I tested out the following three products to see if they would help extend the time between hair washes:

1) Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush http://bit.ly/2aTas76

2) amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo http://amzn.to/2aTaUCw

3) Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo http://bit.ly/2ay3FP8

The Batiste dry shampoo was the most affordable of the three options. The bottle says it's an instant hair refresh, and that's exactly what it gave. After spraying it on my roots, it was as if I had just washed my hair! As well as soaking up excess oil, it also added volume and texture. On the downside, the floral scent was too strong for my personal preference. The amika spray was the most expensive. It's a good product, but for me it was nothing special and I despised the overpowering scent of hairspray. The Lush dry shampoo powder had a very fresh scent of grapefruit, lemon, and lime. It didn't add volume or texture to my hair, but it did a great job at absorbing excess oil. With the exception of magnesium carbonate, it is made with all natural ingredients. I have brown hair and none of the three products left a white cast behind after gently rubbing them in with my fingers.

The verdict: For me, it's a toss-up between the Batiste and Lush dry shampoos. I would recommend the Batiste if you prefer a spray. It does double duty with oil control and giving a boost of volume and texture, and you can't beat the price at less than $10 (CAD) a bottle. I didn't care for the blush scent, but next time I would purchase the original scent. I would recommend the Lush dry shampoo if you prefer a powder and are looking for a more natural product. It gets the job done and the scent is amazing! I would pass on purchasing the amika dry shampoo because it's the most expensive yet does not out-perform the other two products I tested. Do you have any favourites that I should try next?
