Under Eye Concealer
In the past I haven't had an issue with dark under eye circles, but I definitely do now! My youngest son is capable of sleeping through the night but for the past several months he has had other ideas! In order to cover up my dark circles, I have been using concealer on a fairly regular basis. I tested out the following three products to see if they could help me fake a full night's sleep:
1) Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in 01 http://seph.me/2cLw0Tm
2) Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme in Light 1 http://seph.me/2cxa92j
3) NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly http://seph.me/2cj6r01
The Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer is the cheapest of the three options. It has less product than the other two (0.14 oz vs. 0.22 oz), but it is still the cheapest on a price per ounce basis. It comes in 26 shades so I was able to easily find a colour match. I am so pale that I am the lightest shade in any brand 100% of the time (unless you consider pure white). I found that it was easy to blend (using a damp Beauty Blender), and it covered up my dark circles beautifully. I set it with powder but it still settled into fine lines before the end of the day. The Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme in Light 1 appears to have the most product, but in reality it just has a thicker bottle. The shade is extremely fair but I liked that I was able to achieve a highlighted effect under my eyes. Kat Von D's products are known for their high coverage, and this is no exception. Unfortunately it creased after several hours, but not as severely as the Sephora brand. What I didn't like about it is how hard it was to remove. I cleansed my face and this concealer wasn't going anywhere! The skin under your eyes is so sensitive that I didn't want to have to rub the concealer off a second time. The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is the most expensive of the three, but worked the best for me. It camouflaged my dark circles, had minimal creasing, and was easy to blend.
The verdict: Of the three products I tested, I preferred the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, but I had issues with each one. All three were able to cover my dark circles and were great shade matches for my fair skin. The Sephora concealer was the most affordable but creased the most, the Kat Von D concealer gave a beautiful brightening and highlighted effect but it was stubborn to remove, and the NARS concealer creased the least but was the most expensive. I used to only use concealer for special occasions, but now that I'm using it regularly, it would be nice to find a cheaper option. I am still on the hunt for my holy grail concealer, but I enjoyed putting these products to the test and I will continue to use them. Let me know if you have any recommendations for me to try next!
